No trip to the Texas Coastal Bend is complete without a visit to the Rockport/Fulton area. There’s always lots to do and see, and something for everyone.
I love loading up the truck with visitors for our day in Rockport and Fulton. It’s not far from Port A and the drive is beautiful. Take Business 35 from Aransas Pass to Church St to Market St and onto S. Austin St to Old Town. It’s a great hangout with lots of funky shops and some good eats and a wine bar or two.
From there, roll on up to E. Concho St and into the harbor area to check out all the cool bait shops, The Texas Maritime Museum, The Aquarium and The Rockport Center for the Arts with all its cool outdoor statues. And don’t miss the Big Blue Crab sculpture on E. Laurel St.
From there, roll up Broadway Street, along the shore and into Fulton along S. Fulton Beach Rd. You’ll see the famous Fulton Mansion and the gorgeous windswept oaks along the way. Head up a little further and find all sorts of excellent dining opportunities around the Lighthouse Inn. My personal faves are Charlotte Plummers, Moondog and Boiling Pot…to mention a few.
Just a little further up is the Fulton Beach Park…home to many great festivals and events. Check our Events section for more info on that.
